Repair first, replace only if you must
A damaged key doesn't always mean a whole new key. Often the expensive part - the coded transponder chip - is perfectly fine, and the damage is to the blade, the buttons or the plastic shell around it. Repairing or replacing just the broken bit keeps your original coding intact and costs a fraction of a full replacement. We always look at repair first.
The catch is that damage gets worse. A cracked shell lets in dirt and damp that can kill the electronics; a worn blade strains the lock; a snapped blade in the lock stops you using the car at all. So when you spot the damage, that's the moment to call - before it becomes a no-start.

Service-specific FAQs
My key snapped in the lock - can you get it out and fix the key?
Usually yes. Removing a snapped blade from a lock is a common job, and once it's out we can assess whether the key can be repaired or needs replacing. Call us with what happened and the make and model.
The buttons on my fob are worn out - do I need a whole new key?
Often not. If the chip and blade are fine, we can fit a replacement fob shell or repair the buttons, keeping your original coding. That's far cheaper than a full new key. We'll tell you once we've seen it.
My fob case is cracked - is it safe to keep using it?
Best not to. A cracked shell lets in dirt and moisture and exposes the electronics, which can lead to a failed chip - a much bigger problem. A replacement shell protects the internals and is a quick fix.
Can you repair a key, or only replace them?
Both. Where a repair is possible and sensible we'll do that - it's usually cheaper. If the electronics or chip have failed, a replacement is the right call, and we'll tell you honestly which is which once we see the key.
